Baba Dango was born in greater Accra region of Ghana in an area called New Town or Lagos Town. He used to jam with Onipa Nua who became one of the most famous artists in Ghana.
In 1992 he came to Germany and started playing with groups such as Ogidigidi and Senegambigha.
Baba Dango met Ras Donovan who featured him in his reggae band. With this band he had the chance to play on the same stage with The Wailers. In 1997 he recorded his first three singles in Germany which he sang in Hausa language, songs like Zamanduniya, Tumasama and Dasuna Allah.
Zamanduniya was a hit in Ghana due to the support of the radio stations "Vibe Fm" and "Joy Fm". It played on air every day and the people liked the message.
Therefore he had the chance to perform at the first ever carnival which took place at Osu Accra in 1998 backed by U2 band live on stage with over 5.000 people around.
